<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated system to control automatically both the operation of an automated mechanical transmission of a drive train assembly for vehicle and the operation of a multiple speed axle assembly. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with an axle actuator 17 which operates an axle assembly 14 with any desired axle gear ratio. An electronic control device 20 is provided to operate a transmission 13 at the desired transmission gear ratio so that the vehicle is given a desired total gear ratio, and to operate the axle assembly at the desired axle gear ratio. When judgement is passed that a change in the total gear ratio of the vehicle is necessary, the electronic control device 20 operates either or both of the transmission actuator 15 and axle actuator 17 so that the desired total gear ratio is obtained.</p> |
