The method involves continuously or continually adjusting the seat to predefined positions (K,G,G',G'',H,H',H'') on a characteristic line of a characteristic field (10,10') depending on at least two adjustment parameters. The seat is adjusted to positions on a line in a region of the field defined by the positive range of the adjustment parameters with respect to a reference point. The reference point can be the initial seat position or the pelvic center of the person sitting on the seat. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for automatically adjusting a seat.
