<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for removing a coating of an optical fiber which is small and can be operated at low running cost and in any place without restriction. SOLUTION: This apparatus for removing a coating is provided with a supporting body 7 for supporting an optical fiber 5 between a pair of freely openable and closable cutter holders 9, 10 in a state the optical fiber 5 is positioned at a prescribed point in the width direction and a holder holding body 8 for holding a fiber holder 2 in a freely detachable manner and at the same time for moving the fiber holder 2 in an attaching state closer to or remoter from the supporting body 7 in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber 5. Cutting blades 16, 21 are so installed in the supporting body 7 as to tilt toward one end side of the optical fiber 5. The cutting blades 16, 21 whittle the coating material of the optical fiber 5 when the optical fiber 5 is relatively moved toward the other side in the longitudinal direction.</p> |
