PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional optical memory device which is small and which can store large-capacity information. SOLUTION: A plurality of light diffusion elements 60 are arranged on the inner wall part 52 of a memory shell 50. LCD shutters 70 each of which is composed of a plurality of liquid crystal cells are arranged at the respective light diffusion elements 60. Incident light on the respective light diffusion elements 60 is divided into small luminous fluxes so as to be transmitted and cut off selectively according to recording information. The small luminous fluxes which are transmitted through the liquid crystal cells in the LCD shutters 70 are diffused into an optical storage medium 54. Interference fringes are formed in the optical storage medium 54 by the small luminous fluxes radiated from the plurality of light diffusion elements 60. Very small corner-cube prisms are spread on the inner face of the outer wall part 53 of the memory shell 50 so that reproducing light is returned surely to the original light diffusion elements 60. As compared with a case in which light incident on the light diffusion elements 60 is transmitted and cut off collectively, the amount of information which can be recorded is increased. |
