Two metal or plastic pipes are joined at their ends with one fitting inside the other via a socket (2). The union between the pipes is secured by an external bush manufactured in two halves, laid over the join and locked in place by nuts and bolts. The strength of the clamp locking action may be enhanced by projecting beads (4) on the pipe outer faces, fitting into matching beads (3) incorporated within the clamp.
