摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adhesiveness between an ink absorption layer and a carrier, and maintain high glossiness by adding a polymer latex having a glass transition temperature and average grain diameter being lower than a specific value respectively in a void layer containing inorganic fine grains, a cationic polymer, and a hydrophilic binder. SOLUTION: A polymer latex having a glass transition temperature of at most 30 deg.C and an average grain size of at most 1.0 μm is contained in a void layer containing inorganic fine grains and a hydrophilic binder adjacent to the carrier of an ink jet recording paper. In this instance, the average grain size of the polymer latex is preferably 0.5 μm or less, and it is suitable to be small from the point of glossiness for its lower limit. Also, the glass transition temperature is suitable to be 20 deg.C or lower, and the lower limit is not restricted particularly, but it is preferably at least about -50 deg.C. A polymer latex is polymerized by an emulsion polymerization method, a polystylene latex, a styrene-butadiene copolymer latex or the like may be used.
