A method for processing a secret message and a mobile terminal for executing the same are provided to effectively protect a user's privacy by displaying a previously appointed number instead of a specific sender number when a message is received from the specific person. If a user appoints a specific person's actual phone number, a substitute number, and a substitute phrase and inputs them in his mobile terminal(S100), a secret function setup part registers them in a secret processing list(S101). Afterwards, if a message is received(S102), a message selection processing part confirms whether the calling number of the received message exists in the secret processing list(S103). In case the calling number of the received message exists in the secret processing list, the message sorting processing part stores the message in a secret deposit box(S106). At the same time, a message reception announcement part displays the appointed substitute number and phrase on the screen(S107). If the user confirms the displayed substitute number and phrase and makes a request to read the secret message(S108), a user confirmation part displays a password input window(S109). If the user inputs a preset password correctly(S110), the received secret message and the actual phone number are displayed.
