PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a golf ball which is excellent in the spin characteristic and favorable in the carrying characteristic, feeling, and durability and further, high in productibity. SOLUTION: In a multi-piece solid golf ball in which a solid core is covered with two or more cover layers, one of the cover layers is chiefly formed of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer having 60-98 in JIS A hardness and 40% or higher modulus of resilient elasticity. Tanδat 23 deg.C in the measurement of viscoelasticity of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is designed to be 0.01-0.25 and the tensile breaking stress is designed to be 300 kg/cm<2> or larger.
