PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of hunting of a change gear ratio by a method wherein a change gear ratio is controlled without arranging a position detecting means and an angle detecting means at a trunnion, and sufficient control responsiveness is ensured. SOLUTION: Based on a change gear ratio (i) calculated from the input rotational frequencyωof an input disc and the output rotational frequencyω2 of an output disc by a change gear ratio calculating means M1, and input torque Ti and output torque To estimated by a torque estimating means M2, an axial force 2Ft in the direction of a trunnion axis generated at an actuator for controlling a change gear ratio is calculated by an axial force calculating means M3. An axial force change amount calculating means M4 calculates an axial force change amountΔFt based on a deviation between a target change gear ratio ic and the change gear ratio (i) is calculated by an axial force change amount calculating means M4, and a target axial force calculating means M5 calculates a target axial force Fc by adding the axial force 2Ft to the axial force change amountΔFt.
