<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent impact from occuring when a steering mechanism acutating by an actuator in course of automatic steering control has reached a limited state of steering. SOLUTION: With regard to an automatic steering gear steering the front wheels Wf through a ball screw mechanism 8 by controlling the drive of an actuator 7 on the basis of the pre-memorized or pre-operated traveling track, brake is applied to the actuator 7 when a steering state detecting means S5 detects that the ball screw mechanism 8 comes close to a limited position of actuating range (in other words, the limited steering position) and impact is avoided by the ball screw mechanism 8 coming into collision with the actuating end. Thus not only striking noise can be prevented from causing but the slippage of the vehicular traveling track can be prevented and durability of the actuator 7 and the ball screw mechanism 8 can be enhanced.</p> |
