<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fibrous base material usable for a non-asbestos non-metallic friction material useful for uses of a brake and a crutch by forming a porous structure comprising a hardly fibrilated aramid fiber having a specific Canadian standard freeness, a cotton fiber, a carbon fiber, carbon particles and a filler. SOLUTION: This fibrous base material for a non-asbestos non-metallic friction material comprises 10-50 wt.% hardly fibrilated aramid fiber having 530-650 Canadian standard freeness and 0.5-6 mm average fiber length, 5-20 wt.% cotton fiber, 2-15 wt.% carbon fiber, 10-35 wt.% carbon particles having 20-50μm particle diameters and 10-35 wt.% filler of at least one kind of kieselgur and is obtained by forming a porous structure including pores with 2.0-15μm diameters, and having at least 50% porosity.</p> |
