The method involves capturing a fabric hinge member between a first mandrel (32) of a first surface of the extrusion cavity and a second mandrel (34) of a second surface of the cavity. Material is extruded through an extrusion inlet and into the extrusion cavity with the fabric hinge member between the two mandrels, the mandrels defining a hinge line. The hinge member is extruded-in with the extrusion material so that at least some of the fibers of the hinge are embedded in the sections (31) of the extruded material which it joins. An Independent claim is included for an extruded-in woven or nonwoven fabric hinge manufactured by the above method. |
