The invention concerns a device for measuring absolute angular position comprising a magnetic field sensor (26) using magnetoresistors (M1, M2,...M8), the sensor co-operating with a mobile magnetic element whereof the orientation ( alpha ) is to be measured. The sensor comprises on a common substrate (34), a first, second third and fourth group (G1, G2, G3, G4), of at least one magnetoresistor per group having a sensitive axis (C'C), the sensitive axis of the first and third groups (G1, G3) being perpendicular to the sensitive axis of the second and fourth groups (G2, G4) and a permanent magnet placed beneath the substrate, generating a fixed polarising field (Hp). The invention is useful for measuring absolute angular positions, the rotating speeds of rotating machines.
