A travelling and accelerating system for bicycles includes a frame, a pair of pedals, a driving sprocket, a housing, a pinion, a first gear member accommodated in the housing and having an inner gear part and an outer gear part, a second gear member movably contacted the first gear member and formed with planetary gears to be engaged with the inner gear part of the first gear, latch means respectively inserted in the first gear member and the second gear member for rotate them, and a conversion control part connected to a release cable outside the housing for setting a mode of bicycle according to rotation directions of pedals by selectively controlling engagement of the first gear member and the second gear member, so that the user may simply change the rotation direction of pedals forwardly and backwardly by operating the conversion lever while keeping forward travelling of the bicycle, and selectively accelerate travelling speed by increasing rotation number. |
