The cleaning system for xerographic machine uses a flexible blade with a cleaning wall which is pressed against the photoconducting surface by means of a pressure member. The pick up surface is impregnated with zinc stearate, Vydax (RTM), or similar material. The cleaning system incorporates a housing (40), pressing the cleaner blade (54) against the drum, the blade being made of plastics such as polyurethane foam. The cleaning material web runs between two rollers (46, 47) and is pressed against the surface by a pressure roller (48). The soap-like cleaning substance removes the spent toner particles from the drum surface and provides a clean surface for the adhesion of fresh particles.
