TREATMENT OF PLATING SLUDGE AND TREATING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a useful material by treating plating sludge at a low cost. SOLUTION: Sludge consisting essentially of hydroxides produced from a waste plating soln. is dehydrated to obtain the dehydrated sludge which is dried to decrease its water content. The dried material obtained is mixed with iron oxides to obtain almost a uniform mixture. The obtained mixture is calcined to produce ferrite. The drying is conducted e.g. at 105-125 deg.C and the calculation at 700-900 deg.C. The device for such treatment is provided with a drying furnace 12, a quantitative feeders 14 and 15 for respectively supplying the dried sludge and iron oxides, a mixing and crushing mechanism 16 and a calcining furnace 17.
