PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hyperlipemia medicine and an antioxidizing agent having excellent safety and excellent effects for preventing or treating hyperlipemia causing various circulatory organ diseases such as arteriosclerosis and for eliminating active oxygen generated in living bodies, and to provide a food composition containing the hyperlipemia medicine or the antioxidizing agent. SOLUTION: This hyperlipemia medicine or the antioxidizing agent comprises a plant (mint plant) belonging to the genus Mentha in the family Labiatae or its extract. The food composition contains the hyperlipemia medicine or the antioxidizing agent. The hyperlipemia medicine or the antioxidizing agent is obtained by drying the whole plant, leaves or stems of the mint grass or their steam distillation residue or extracting the materials with a proper solvent.
