PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective cell culture bed substrate for the proliferation of animal cells and usable as a substitute for collagen. SOLUTION: A membrane composed of silk fibroin or silk sericin selected according to the kind of the animal cell to be cultured or containing both components at a specific ratio is bonded to the substrate of a cell culture bed. The bonding can be carried out by making the lower layer to be insoluble in water, bonding the upper layer and making the layer to be insoluble in water.
