The method involves using a moving test device for detecting the surface section by section. In each section, the global position of the test device is determined using a positioning signal. Adjacent sections are correlated with each other by detecting surface markings common to these sections. The markings may be the central reservation of a carriageway. An Independent claim is also given for a system for detecting unevenness and damage.
