The grinding machine has a driven roller(3) which interacts with a non-rotatable abutment block(5) forming an adjustable gap(11). The roller and abutment block are fitted in housing(6) which as far as possible is closed. The block can pivot in the housing around a pivot point(8). The abutment block is wedge-shaped and the radii(r1,r2) of the wedge and roller are in the ratio of 3 to 4. A material feed area is formed by the roller and wedge and tapers towards the crushing gap.
