The lamp includes a light emission pipe (1) which encloses metallic vapour and halide. A pair of mutually opposing electrodes (6,7) is provided in the light emission pipe. The electrodes are connected to respective Mo foils (4,5). A pair of sealing parts is provided in which the pair of Mo foils is embedded respectively. The sealing parts are fixed using a pair of coupling mounting parts (11,12) on the reverse end of which a pair of appliance socket mounting parts (11a,12a) installed, far away from the centre of the light emission pipe. A pair of external lead rod (8,9) are provided in between the sealing parts and the coupling mounting part which have a length `C' lying in the range of 0 =(b-a)/2 =8.5, where `b' is curtate distance between the appliance socket mounting parts which are provided on both ends of light emission pipe, and `a' is the distance between both ends of the sealing part.
