The data conversion method converts tree-structured data from a source object model into a freely defined target object model, with both the source and target trees provided by objects from one or more object classes, each having one or more attributes. The target tree root is determined and the rules for calculating the target tree node attributes, with conversion of each source tree node into a target tree node.
