PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent color reproducibility without uneveness in color of a projected picture even when the color synthesis of a dynamic mirror system is used by allowing the twist direction of the liquid crystal of the liquid crystal panel of the liquid crystal light valve of the first type having reflections of the number of even-numbered times and the twist direction of the liquid crystal of the liquid crystal panel of the liquid crystal light valve of the second type having reflections of the number of odd-numbered times to be reverse to each other. SOLUTION: Rays of light from a light source 401 are respectively separated into red, green and blue lights by green reflection dynamic mirrors 402, 403 to be respectively made incident on liquid crystal light valves for red light, green light, blue light 406, 405, 404. In a color synthesis by a dynamic mirror prism 407, the red and blue lights and the green light are respectively synthesized by the reflection of one time and a transmission (the reflection of zero time) to be guided to a projection lens 410. In this case, the liquid crystal valves for red and blue lights 406, 404 have orientation distributions of right-twisted liquid crystals and the liquid crystal light valve for green light 405 has the orientation distribution of a left-twisted liquid crystal and they are in surface symmetrical relations each other. |
