<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic 1,2-diol-side-chain-containing polysiloxane emulsion useful as a fiber treating agent by adopting various processes using at least one epoxy-functional alkoxysilane. SOLUTION: An example of the processes comprises the following steps 1-6: (1) mixing (a) at least one cyclosiloxane with (b) at least one anionic surfactant, (c) water, and, optionally, (d) a strong acid condensation polymerization catalyst; (2) mechanically emulsifying the product of step (1); (3) heating the product of step (2); (4) adding (e) at least one epoxy-functional alkoxysilane to step (3); (5) heating the product of step (4); and (6) adding (f) at least one nonionic surfactant after step (1) or (4). Another example of the processes is one which is the same as the former example, except that the cyclosiloxane is replaced by a hydroxyl-end-stopped polyorganosiloxane.</p> |
