PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wool fabric with excellent stretchability and stretch/ contraction durability without the need of any complicated treatment process and/or manufacturing management, by treating under specified conditions a fabric comprising blended spun yarn of wool fibers and water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol fibers. SOLUTION: This stretchable wool fabric is obtained by the following process: a fabric made by using blended spun yarns of wool fibers and water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol fibers (the blend ratio being pref. 10-30 wt.% based on the weight of the fabric) is immersed in a water bath at normal temperatures followed by temperature raising under agitation to effect contraction of the polyvinyl alcohol fibers, which are then dissolved in the water and removed, and the resultant fabric comprising the wool fibers alone is subjected to setting treatment. |
