PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosensitive transfer biaxially oriented polyester film adapted to the manufacture of an ink ribbon for printing a good color tone reproducibility with small density change. SOLUTION: The thermosensitive transfer biaxially oriented polyester film is obtained by coating at least one side surface of a polyester film before an orientation crystallization is completed with a coating liquid containing a water soluble or dispersible organic polymer compound, then drying it, orienting it and heat treating it. In this case, a thickness unevenness of an arbitrary 15 m length zone of the film in a lengthwise direction is 10% or less.
