PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tubular food casing formed of a narrow and long biaxially stretched strip of a cellulose film with longitudinal edges and also its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A cellulose film is bent around the longitudinal axial line 16 so that longitudinal edges 12 are close each other to form a tube 10, and the longitudinal edges 12 are sealed together. A plastic material is preferably a cellulose film (cellophane) composed of modified or unmodified cellulose from the viewpoint of its unique characteristics. Also another plastic material, for instance, polyamide such as polyolefin, halogenated polyolefin or nylon can be used. The film is biaxially stretched by 10% in the longitudinal direction and 10% in the lateral direction before forming seams. Desired stretchability, shrinkage characteristics and strength characteristics can be provided by the arrangement. |
