A board machine comprises wet and press sections. The wet section has a first forming unit arranged to form a printable surface layer. The unit has a wire to transfer a multilayer cardboard web to upper press felt with the printable surface layer facing downwards to contact a lower press felt. The lower press exerts greater adhesion force and encompasses a lower roll by an angle. A board machine comprises wet and press sections (4, 5). The wet section includes a first forming unit (7) to form a first layer and additional forming unit(s). The first forming unit has forming wire(s) (9) which runs in an extended loop up to the press section to form a pick-up point for a multilayer cardboard web. The additional forming units (8) form additional layer(s) and couch the same with the first layer on the extended forming wire to form the multilayer cardboard web. The press section includes at least one double-felted press having an upper press element (47) and a lower press element (48) in a form of a press roll, an upper press felt (49) running in a loop around guide rolls (53) and a pick-up roll, and a lower press felt (52) which also runs in a loop around the guide rolls. The upper and lower press elements create a press nip with each other. The pick-up roll is arranged at the pick-up point to transfer the multilayer cardboard web into the upper press felt. The first forming unit is arranged to form a printable surface layer and arranged with the extended forming wire for transferring the web to the upper press felt of the double-felted press in which the printable surface layer faces downward to contact the lower press felt in the press nip. The lower press felt has a finer web-containing surface to exert greater adhesion force on the web. The lower press felt encompasses the lower press roll by a pre-determined minimum sector angle measured from a point in the press nip intersected by the press line which is defined for a roll and a shoe press, respectively. An Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a multilayer cardboard web with a printable surface layer in a board machine. |
