<p>Methods are provided which make use of a combination of gene trap and two-hybrid methodologies for the identification and characterization of unknown genes according to protein-protein interactions of the gene product or for the identification and characterization of unknown genes encoding transcriptional activator domains (AD). Interaction of an exon-encoded protein domain with a known protein, or functioning of the exon-encoded domain as an AD, is detected by reconstituting the activity of a transcriptional activator. Suitable gene trap vectors are also provided.</p> |
