The carrier pipe structure for a cryogenic fluid, such as helium, has an outer mantle (1) and at least two inner pipes (2,4) with thermal insulation (3). They are of a metal alloy with low thermal coefficients of expansion, and have a constant diameter over their lengths. The outer housing has a small diameter. The axial gap (e) between neighboring pipes is smaller than 1.4 times the diameter (d) of the larger inner pipe. The diameter (D) of the outer mantle (1) is smaller than 4.8 times the diameter (d) of the larger inner pipe, and is at most 210 mm or at most 590 mm
