An anti-slip mat of flexible material is new in that both sides of the mat are covered by a group of parallel or concentric sharp ridges (1). Preferably, the ridges are essentially triangular, with peak angles of 45 deg -90 deg , especially 60 deg . The mat preferably comprises ethylene vinyl acetate.
