The optimizing process applies to a bowl mill crusher (10) in which grinding material supplied by at least one supply tube (11, 16) onto a rotating grinding bowl (12) are rolled over by grinding rolls (13). The over-rolled material is transported by an air flow rising up from the circumference of the bowl to a sieve (20). The middlings separated from the fines in the sieve are separated from the mill atmosphere, conditioned, and fed onto the bowl so that they are not at all or only minimally influenced by the mill atmosphere.
