An Independent claim is included for an apparatus for the above process, comprising a gas compressor, at least one adsorber (11, 12) with stacked horizontal beds (21, 22, 23) containing at least a first adsorbant bed (21, 22) and at least one ballast bed (23) or with each adsorber containing two adsorbant beds (21, 22) and a ballast bed, with the beds separated by separation grilles (16a, 16b).
