A container system comprising a container 1, a cap 4 capable of being removably secured to an open neck of the container, and a detachable annular collar 7, wherein the collar 7 is held in position on the neck of the container 1 by means of the cap 4. The container 1 may be provided with a first, outer neck portion 2, optionally provided with threads or snap-on fittings 3, on which the cap 4 is secured and a second, inner neck portion, optionally provided with seating and locking means, on which the collar 7 is mounted. The collar 7 may act as an auxiliary handguard for handling the container 1 or as a decorative element. <IMAGE>
