摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier which is improved in gain characteristic by means by combining the optical fibers of plural types. SOLUTION: The combination structure of a fiber amplifier is obtained by the use of aluminum-doped EDFA(erbium-added light fiber amplifier) and fluoride-doped EDFA. Individual parts are comparatively short, and they are alternately arranged (aluminum-fluoride-aluminum and so on), and the desired length of the amplifier is obtained. In the amplifier, ten fiber parts are used, so that the combined length of the adjacent aluminum-doped part and fluoride- doped part becomes about one fifth of the length of the fiber amplifier of a final product. The rate of aluminum/fluoride or the length part play a main role, so that it gives uniform features and the flat gain of the fiber amplifier of the final product.
