PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and circuit for interrupting output of optical signal having no effect on the optical signals of other terminal devices even when the interruption of optical output to a terminal device from a master device is uncontrollable or the optical input to the terminal device is discontinued. SOLUTION: A terminal device incorporates an optical input discontinuity detecting section 7 which detects optical input discontinuity, an optical transmission stop signal detecting section 2 which detects an optical transmission stop signal from the data received from a master device, and a transmission selecting section 4 which controls a transmission burst signal. The terminal device also incorporates a monitor section 5 which monitors whether or not optical output stop control is normally performed, and a power supplying section 6 which supplies electric power to an E/O module 3. When the optical input discontinuity or abnormal light emission from the module 3 occurs, the terminal device discontinues the optical output from the module 3 by stopping the power supply to the module 3. |
