<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent thermal damage to an intake system structure by combustion heat from a combustion heater in an internal combustion engine having the combustion heater. SOLUTION: An engine 1 has a combustion heater 17 operated at the cold time. The combustion heater 17 generates combustion gas a2 at the time of combustion to warm cooling water for promoting worming-up of an engine 1 and for improving the performance of a heater 9 for a cabin of a vehicle in which the engine 1 is mounted. In such a constituted internal combustion engine A1 having the combustion heater, the combustion gas a2 of the combustion heater 17 is mixed to fresh air a1 which enters in an intake passage 29 of the engine 1 to use new air a1 as the combustion gas mixing intake gas a3 which is introduced to an engine main body 3. The temperature of the combustion gas mixing intake gas a3 is found out, and the combustion conditions of the combustion heater 17 is controlled on the basis of the temperature.</p> |
