摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sound insulating performance of double glazing by forming a vent hole at the side of the air layer of a cylindrical spacer, internally sealing a sound absorbing material and forming an inclined part on the bottom of the spacer for making a seal material discontinuous between glass panels. SOLUTION: A spacer 14 of double glazing 11 is made of a cylindrical body of aluminum or the like, and a gap with glass panels 12 and 12 is filled with a primary seal. Also, a recess 22 formed between the ends of the glass panels 12 and 12 is filled with a secondary seal 24, thereby isolating an air layer 13 from the atmosphere. In addition, vent holes 19 of a diameter between 15 mm and 25 mm are formed on the inner plate 15 of the spacer 14 at a pitch between 25 mm and 35 mm, and glass wool of density between 25 kg/m<3> and 40 kg/m<3> is sealed into the internal space of the spacer 14 for use as a sound absorbing material 21. According to the construction, the secondary seal 24 is made discontinuous between the glass panels 12 and 12 with the outer exposed surface 18a of the spacer 14 for restraining a coincidence effect, and a resonance transmission phenomenon is restrained by the cushion function of the sound absorbing material 21, thereby improving the sound insulating performance of the double glazing 11 over a range from a high sound level to a low sound level.
