The valve is formed of a body (1) with guide sleeves (2-4) of a valve (5), maintained closed by a spring (6). When maximum pressure in the circuit is attained at point (A), the pressure in the cavity (b) acts on the pilot piston (7) which in turn pushes on the valve (5) to move it off its seat (a) to join the port (P) of the pump to port (T) of the reservoir. As the diameter (d1) is greater than the diameter (d2), the pressure in the space (e) controlled by the restrictor (8) maintains the valve open, and thus controls the timing of the loading and unloading cycle.
