To change a paint color, in a paint spraying assembly, a pig (15) with shape stability is inserted into the feed line (8) as a divider, with a positive fit in the feed line (8), between the remaining paint from the old charge and the compressed air and/or liquid used to flush it out. The pig (15) is removed from the feed line (8) before it reaches the spray nozzle (10). The pig (15) is returned to the start position, for removal. The pig has at least one core which can be detected by sensors (30).
