The seat bowl (or other component, e.g. the inner sheet of a tailgate or hood) is produced by super-plastic forming (SPF) from a nonferrous metal alloy such as an aluminum alloy containing magnesium or a magnesium alloy containing aluminum. A semifinished sheet product (13), e.g. a thin sheet of 0.5-3 mm in thickness, forms the basis for the manufacture.
