PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid rapidly changing of braking/driving behavior of an automobile when it is dislocated from a control region, releasing inter-vehicle distance control while gradually relaxing deceleration in accordance with a car speed or the lapse of time, in the case of releasing the inter-vehicle distance control for exceeding the control region. SOLUTION: An inter-vehicle distance relative to a preceding vehicle is detected in an inter-vehicle distance detection part 11, brake/drive force is controlled in an inter-vehicle distance control part 15, and the inter-vehicle distance is controlled. A lane width is detected in a lane width detection part 19, and in the case that detection width of the inter-vehicle distance detection part in a follow up inter-vehicle distance is smaller than a lane width detection value, sensing impossibility is judged in a sensing possibility judging part 20, and inter-vehicle distance control is gradually released in accordance with a car speed in a brake, force relaxing release part 21.
