<p>The athletic shoe (10) includes a resilient sole portion (14) and an upper portion (18) having an ankle enclosing section (22) and a toe enclosing section (26). The toe enclosing section (26) is hingedly attached to the inner edge of the resilient sole (14) and swings upwardly for introduction of the wearer's foot. The toe enclosing section (26) is detachably secured to the outer edge (42) of the sole portion (14). When the toe enclosing section (26) is closed, a locking strip (146) is moved to a forward position and rear edges of the elongated holes (162) of the locking strip engage retaining notches (130) of pins (118), the toe enclosing section (26).</p> |
