An earth nut having excellent earthing characteristics, not having the possibility that an earthing function is lost, even when a high axial force is exerted thereon, and capable of reducing the cost, comprising a flanged nut having a nut body, and a flange formed on a lower end of the nut body and integral therewith, wherein a plurality of projections are formed on the lower portions of the flange which are in the vicinity of an outer circumference of the flange, the projections being adapted to cut off a film of coating from a seat surface which a bottom surface of the nut contacts, a plurality of vertical grooves being provided in circumferential surface of a female screw thread portion of the nut body, the vertical grooves extending in the axial direction of the nut body and having edges, which are capable of cutting off a film of coating on a screw thread of a bolt engaged with the nut, on one side of the portions of the grooves which cross a thread of the female screw portion of the nut body.
