<p>A reinforcing structure is provided for substantial encasement in a settable material, such as concrete. The structure has a grid-like configuration with interstices into which the settable material is received and comprises interlockable male (12) and female elements (10) of elongate flat proportions. The elements are of lower density than the settable material and are preferably made of fibregrass-reinforced plastics materials. The grid may be of squared or radial configuration. It may advantageously be applied to the manufacture of manhole covers and columns.</p> |
