The machine has an electromagnetic drive with a pivotable trigger lever for actuating a pin whose free end prevents further movement of fixing devices in the ejection channel whilst the preceding device has not been fully driven into the workpiece. The end stop of the magnetic armature is adjustable in its direction of motion to limit the reverse movement of the pin. A stroke limiter (2) can be pivoted into the armature's path of motion by a lever (6) under spring tension if the magnetic coil (8) is stimulated by pulses via the trigger (5) to allow the armature (1) to reach its end position
