PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image display from becoming unnatural and to eliminate the need for reverse conversion from a lightness image to a height image by converting the luminance of shade data after affine transformation to the uneven pattern of a building material, and then displaying an image. SOLUTION: A layout line generating means 1 generates sections on the external surface of the building material as an operator instructions and a groove shape generating means 2 sets the sectional shape of a groove for a layout line. An uneven pattern allocating means 3 makes a specified uneven pattern correspond to a specific section and an uneven pattern editing means 4 performs affine transformation by rotation, enlargement or reduction, etc., for the uneven pattern. A shade data calculating means 5 calculates shade data after allocation and editing and a shade image display means 6 converts the luminance of the data to make a simple display. An uneven pattern composing means 7 uses a basic shape model with a joint which is formed by combining the inside and flank part shapes of the groove part and corrects the tilt or unevenness degree to a proper value to generate three-dimensional shape data.
