PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for stably producing an alkenylaromatic resin extrudate having high suitability for environmental hygienics, not causing the depletion of the ozonosphere, and having excellent economical profitability and excellent compressive strength. SOLUTION: There is provided with a process for producing an alkenylaromatic resin foam, comprising extruding a gel-like substance containing a blowing agent containing carbon dioxide into a low-pressure zone through a die having a throat 2 being a passage with a gradually diminishing cross-sectional area, a pair of parts with parallel faces and an exit to form a foam, wherein Q, L, A, and P are regulated so that the pressure release velocity V (kgf/cm<2> .sec) as defined by the formula: V=P[L/(Q/A)] may fall within the range of 200-800 [wherein Q (cm<3> /sec) is the volume flow rate of the foamed gel at the exit 4 of the die, P is the differential pressure between the throat and the exit; A (cm<2> ) is the cross-sectional area of the exit; and L (cm) is the length of the parallel part of the die]. |
