PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain homogeneous fiber sheets and their molded products that are suitable as car interior materials by spraying fibers with a dispersion containing a synthetic resin binder and an adhesive, pressing them to sheets, and then subjecting the sheets to the hot-press molding and/or vacuum molding. SOLUTION: A adhesive as an acrylic emulsion is admixed to water in an amount of 0.01-50 wt.% on the solid basis, dispersing a powdery synthetic resin binder such as a phenolic resin in the mixture in an amount of 1-40 wt.%, then the dispersion is sprayed to the fibers so that the synthetic resin binder is applied to the fibers in an amount of 5-40 wt.%. Then, the treated fibers are carded with a machine to carded webs. Several webs are piled up to form a fleece, needle-punched and treated with heat to form fiber sheets. The resultant fiber sheets are cut in prescribed dimensions, molded by the hot-pressing or by vacuum molding to give a desired sheet molded product. |
