PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that discriminates the size of a read original with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: An MPU 82 calculates a length of an original based on setting of image quality by an image quality setting key 87d and a scanning line number of image data read by a read section 14 when the size of the read original is 'A4' or 'B5' size. When the difference between the length of the original and 257 mm of a long side length of the B5 size is less than ±5 mm, it is discriminated that the size of the read original is 'B5'. Thus, the read image data are recorded on recording paper of the same size as that of the read original. When the size of the read original is 'B5' a recording paper of 'A4' size being not selected, a recording paper of 'B5' size is surely selected. |
